Christmas 2009 visit

Page history last edited by Shelley 14 years, 3 months ago

Yay, Grandpa & Nana are coming to visit!

They'd like to treat us to some special experience while they're here. Grandpa and Nana are a gift unto themselves, and we would be perfectly happy to alternate family board games with family winter hikes, but here are some other options, just in case that doesn't satisfy the grandparental gift-giving itch:

Princeton area

Princeton University Art Museum, among other things, currently featuring this exhibit, which looks terrific: http://artmuseum.princeton.edu/gifts/

We could go on a tour of Morven, the former NJ Governor's mansion

Divide and conquer option: Shelley & Reinhard go see Avatar, Nana & Dominic go see a movie of his choosing, Terri tags along with.... ?

The NJ State Planetarium (at the State Museum, in Trenton) has undergone a major upgrade this year... could be cool!

Tours of Drumthwacket (the NJ Governor's mansion) are available only on Wednesdays, so that's a no-go for this year.

All Princeton options could potentially finish w/ a dinner out at the fabulous Mediterra...

Montclair

We still like the sound of this exhibit: http://www.montclairartmuseum.org.asp1-6.websitetestlink.com/cezanne/

There are some nice restaurants in Montclair, too! :-)

NYC

If the weather permits, a train trip into NYC on Sat. to check out Moomah could be fun. (Moomah is a fabulous interactive kid-friendly art space & cafe, but they're closed on Sundays to enable them to rent the space out for private parties.)

Or, if we're feeling like something w/ a little more of an adult focus, I would LOVE to go to the Museum of Art & Design... have heard great things about their modified paper exhibit, "Slash"... http://collections.madmuseum.org/html/exhibitions/485.html (They're open on both Sat. & Sun. from 11am - 6pm.)

Can't wait to see Grandpa & Nana!
